Mental Health Coping Skills (PDF)

The way people handle stress, process emotions, and respond to challenges can influence their thoughts, feelings, relationships, and overall mental health. Research shows that learning healthy coping skills is one of the most effective ways to nurture one’s mental health.
The Mental Health Coping Skills (PDF) bundle includes 11 handouts that teach clients simple and effective ways to maintain good mental health. This collection includes engaging visuals on self-care, happiness brain chemicals, the circle of control, and coping with stress.
Displaying these posters in visible areas can inspire young people to use coping tools to support their mental and emotional wellbeing. A fun idea is to create a “calm corner” using these resources. Include blank cards where kids can write down their favorite skills, and choose one to try when they’re feeling upset or worried.
Caring adults can model healthy ways of managing stress based on the skills taught in these handouts, such as listening to music, stepping outside for fresh air, journaling, or using positive affirmations.
