Resilience Worksheet

Resilience is the ability to bounce back or adapt in healthy ways when faced with stress or adversity. A resilient client can manage their emotions — they may feel sad or angry, but they can calm themselves. According to the APA, young people can develop resilience over time through proper guidance from their parents and caregivers.

The Resilience Worksheet guides clients through reflective questions such as “What is a challenge, mistake, or failure you have been through?” and “What are coping skills you can use?” The worksheet allows them to think about past challenges and the lessons they’ve learned from them.

Through reflection, children and teens may develop a growth mindset, feel more confident, and increase their ability to problem-solve. In addition to using resilience worksheets, parents can support their kids by letting them participate in activities that promote resilience — such as regular exercise, stress management practices, and certain programs.

This worksheet pairs well with our How To Build Resilience handout, for added emphasis of the concept.
