Feelings Wheel for Kids

A feelings wheel or an emotions wheel is a tool that allows clients to pinpoint specific emotions they’re having. The goal of a feelings wheel is to help people describe their feelings, which can be the first step to understanding the cause of those feelings and learning how to respond or cope.
The Feelings Wheel for Kids is designed to help young clients understand that there is a normal range of emotions and scale of emotions that all humans experience in response to different situations. It shows six basic emotions in the center of the wheel including happiness, fear, surprise, anger, sadness, and peace, and breaks them down into related feelings on the outer parts of the wheel.
Using the wheel regularly helps kids and teens better understand a variety of different emotions. When combined with the Exploring Emotions Worksheet, they can further understand how different emotions are linked to certain thoughts and actions.
Caring adults can post the Feelings Wheel in visible areas, like on a classroom wall or refrigerator at home, to keep it easily accessible for kids. To enhance its usefulness, they can add a daily feelings check-in where children can mark their feelings each day.

I was looking for a feelings wheel that felt more approachable and tangible for 6th and 7th graders. Sometimes the feelings wheels that are available can cause stress just by looking at all of the words and layout.
This feelings wheel provides a face to go with each feeling and provides a starting bank of feeling words that can be added on to later. Also, I appreciated the addition of "peaceful" which is not on every wheel. I might want to add another category labeled "disgust" as there are feelings associated with disgust thst can be different from anger, fear, or sadness.
I'm excited to use this!
Thank you, Laura! Please don't forget to check our other worksheets and handouts.

Great visual for kids and teens. Wonderful list categorized appropriately.
We're so glad you are finding that our Feelings Wheel is working well with both kids and teens, Meg! We were hoping that the categorized emotions help make those complex feelings more manageable and easier to understand.
Was looking for a resource for some students who struggle to name their feelings. Found this and bought the feelings wheel and the more in-depth feelings list sheet. So pleased with them both they are now laminated and in use in the class.
We always think it's a great idea to laminate our resources, Rachel! We're happy our Feelings Wheel and List are helping your students build their emotional vocabulary. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
