The four main “happiness chemicals” in the body are dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. These neurotransmitters and hormones are responsible for regulating mood and emotions. Studies have shown that positive emotions are a strong predictor of physical health and that they’re correlated with decreased illnesses.
The Happiness Chemicals Poster helps clients learn the specific chemicals in the body that contribute to feeling good and stable. Each happiness chemical includes a simple description of its purpose and tips to naturally boost it.
Getting familiar with these chemicals and reading the tips allows kids and teens to appreciate activities like self-care and exercise, which motivates them to take action. Talking to a trusted adult or mentor who can explain these ideas more simply can improve their knowledge about brain chemicals and help them manage their emotions better.
