Practicing gratitude involves noticing and appreciating the good things in life, such as kind actions, happy moments, or small successes. While it helps build positive feelings and strengthens connections, it may not always be practiced, particularly among those who struggle to see its value.
The My Gratitude Exercises Worksheet includes a set of questions to help clients focus on what they can be thankful for. They can write about things they enjoyed during the day, name people who have supported them, think about their strengths, and learn from tough times. There’s also a section that lets them choose two gratitude habits to try every day for a week.
Completing this worksheet helps kids and teens be more focused on good experiences. Pairing this activity with simple routines like expressing gratitude during family time or writing quick “thank-you notes” can make it a natural and lasting habit.
Parents and teachers can set aside time for meaningful discussions. Another fun idea would be making a gratitude tree where kids add paper leaves with things they’re thankful for, which can also make the practice engaging.
This worksheet pairs well with our All About Gratitude handout for further education on the topic.
