What Color Are You Feelings Chart

A color-based emotions or feelings chart is a visual resource that contains simple pictures of emotions, each associated with a specific color representing it. Certain colors represent stronger feelings like sadness or anger and other colors symbolize lighter emotions such as happiness or calmness.
The What Color Are You Feelings Chart is a tool for clients to easily identify their emotional experience and consider the actions they might take. It displays four facial expressions representing the following emotions: anger, sadness, happiness, and anxiety. Beneath each color are suggestions for ways they can support themselves in managing those feelings.
Kids and teens who find it difficult to express themselves may benefit from using this chart. It can be displayed in their rooms so they can privately refer to it whenever needed, especially in times when they're feeling overwhelmed and need a moment alone.
This chart may also be used in educational and therapy settings to explore coping strategies for big emotions. Parents can set up a calming corner and their kids can go there to identify how they’re feeling and pick an activity from the suggestions beneath the colors.
This handout pairs seamlessly with our best-selling Feelings Thermometer and our How Are You Feeling Today poster.
