My Trauma Story
This is a great worksheet for trauma narratives.
Trauma refers to emotional and psychological harm that is brought about by distressing experiences in life. Childhood trauma (negative experiences that happen during childhood) can have lasting effects — it may lead to anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and other disorders. Talking about trauma can help survivors process their emotions.
The My Trauma Story worksheet is a tool that lets clients discuss and process their traumatic experiences through writing or drawing. It gives examples of events they may have gone through, provides a space where they can describe the event, and allows them to identify the emotions they’ve felt. At the bottom of the worksheet, they can identify certain coping strategies to use if they feel triggered by their story.
Completing this worksheet may lead to increased self-awareness while promoting emotional release in kids and teens. In addition to this activity, caring adults should stay alert to changes in the child’s behavior and consult a healthcare provider if signs of trauma persist, such as flashbacks or emotional numbness.
