Stress Management Skills (PDF)
Stress is a normal and common experience regardless of age. As for people’s experiences with stress, research shows that stress contributes to poor sleep in young people, which then impacts their ability to pay attention and get along with others.
This Stress Management Skills PDF handout educates clients about stress — its unique effects, situations that trigger stress, and proven coping skills. Each skill on the handout includes a simple explanation to give clients an idea of how to best apply them.
Coping with stress in a healthy manner helps break the cycle of negative thoughts and manage anxiety in children and teens. Before discussing each coping strategy with a child, student, or therapy client, we recommend starting with a brief introduction to the nature of stress. On that note, we have a resource on How Stress Affects The Brain And Body which you can download.
This handout is included in our 39-page Stress Management Handouts Bundle, which provides a variety of stress reduction activities to support good mental health.
