Anger Thermometer (PDF)

$4.00
Translation missing: en.products.product.view_full_details

An anger thermometer is a tool that helps you understand and measure how angry you feel. It shows different levels of anger, from calm to very upset, which helps individuals become aware of their emotions.

This Anger Thermometer poster shows kids how mad they feel in response to a trigger. Each anger level corresponds to certain behaviors. For example, Annoyed/Disappointed/Upset can result in sighing and eye-rolling. This resource also recommends healthy coping strategies, such as taking deep breaths and moving their bodies.

Becoming aware of one’s anger level is the first step toward behavioral change. Kids and teens can use this handout whenever they need help with taming their temper and calming down.

Once they complete this, parents or teachers might find it beneficial to engage kids or teens in a calming activity, such as taking a short walk, listening to soothing music, or practicing deep breathing exercises. These activities can further help in reducing stress and promoting a sense of emotional well-being.

I have a calming/quiet corner in my classroom and have been looking for the right visual to help me explain to the kids about how they look when they feel a certain way and what to do and this is the best visual.

Thank you, Belen! Please don't forget to check our other worksheets, handouts, and posters.

So cute!

My daughter responded so well to this. She's a kindergartener, so she can read some of the short words as well as recognizing the faces. She also recognizes this little pictures for what she can do when she's feeling like that face on the thermometer. When she's escalating, I'm hopeful that it will be easier for her to point to the page rather than verbally share what she needs. I was happy to find this so I didn't have to try to make my own. :)

Thank you for sharing your initial experience with our Anger Thermometer, Ellen! We're so happy to hear how your daughter is connecting with the resource - from reading the words to using the pictures to communicate her needs. We worked very hard to make this and our other thermometer products (Feelings and Anxiety) as engaging and therapeutic as possible. Wishing you and your family all the best!

Practical

The Anger Thermometer provides clear descriptions for kids and pre-teens. The "What You Can Do" section gives just enough examples without being overwhelming. This visual also complements the graphics used in the corresponding videos well.

Thank you for mentioning how well the visual complements the graphics in our videos. Your feedback means so much to us. Have a wonderful day!

I truly wanted a laminated "card" - something with some substance to it, and could not find that anywhere. It is downloaded and printed and laminated here at my school, but not the same. I would also like a laminated poster size - like 16X20 or even larger. Unavailable. Frustrating.

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback on our Anger Thermometer, R'Delle! We apologize that it did not meet your expectations related to a physical product. We're always thinking of ways to increase access and easy of use for our digital products in ways that are cost effective for our family run business. We will take your thoughts into consideration for future product development. We may try to expand to another platform that offers physical prints of our products in the future. We greatly appreciate you choosing our product, and we hope you can return if you are in need of any printable mental health products for kids in the future.
