An Anger Thermometer is a visual tool that helps young people gauge their emotions as a result of an anger trigger. Feelings can range from “calm, peaceful, and relaxed” to “enraged, explosive, and furious.” Being able to explore and acknowledge their emotions allows kids and teens to do something about them.
Use this handout as a therapeutic activity that lets a child or teenager evaluate their anger level, their actions corresponding to that anger, and healthy strategies to tame their temper and calm down. Some of the coping skills found on the worksheet include exercising, grounding, getting fresh air, and writing about their successes.
