Listening is a key part of communication that often gets overlooked in today’s busy world. Teaching young clients this skill is important to prevent misunderstandings and grow into adults who build strong relationships and work well with others.
The Good Listening Skills handout is designed to help clients learn how to listen actively during conversations. It includes four key sections: the first explains what makes a good listener, the second provides a checklist for practicing, the third emphasizes habits to avoid, and the fourth shows how to use body language to show they are paying attention.
Using this handout helps young people connect better with others to improve teamwork and collaboration in school and social settings.
Caring adults can further develop listening skills through interactive activities. For example, they might play a game where children repeat back important points from a story or discussion.
