FAST DBT Worksheet
The DBT FAST skill is a self-respect interpersonal effectiveness skill that stands for (being) Fair, (no) Apologies, Sticking to your values, and (being) Truthful. This skill focuses on achieving a healthy respect for oneself by not compromising your beliefs and values. Without this it can result in resentment and bitterness. The FAST skill helps in maintaining your moral integrity without apologizing for it.
The FAST DBT Worksheet includes two worksheet activities where clients can reflect on a past, current, or future situation where the FAST skills are necessary. For example, one activity asks them to consider the situation from the other person’s perspective and try to identify what is fair. A client can also assess their commitment to being honest with themselves or their actions. The second page invites individuals to assess the effectiveness of the skills after the situation has ended.
These worksheets assist kids and teens in applying self-respect skills when solving interpersonal conflicts. After completing the activity, they can discuss their answers with a caring adult. Our DBT FAST Handout can be a helpful and visually appealing addition to these worksheets.
