Accepting Differences Worksheets (2 Pages)

Everyone sees the world in their own unique way. But when someone thinks, speaks, or acts differently, it can sometimes be difficult to understand their perspective. Learning to accept these differences takes time, effort, and a willingness to listen, especially when it’s something new or unfamiliar.
The Accepting Differences Worksheets include two separate worksheets that nicely complement each other and help clients explore how they treat others. The Being Tolerant and Accepting Differences worksheet presents everyday situations where clients decide how often they show tolerance. Exploring Tolerance includes a variety of tasks that allow them to think more deeply, and clients are also invited to create a personalized tolerance pledge.
As kids and teens work through each activity, they gain a better understanding of themselves and others. To build on these lessons, parents or teachers can introduce a weekly “difference spotlight” where a child shares something unique about themselves — such as a tradition, interest, or belief. Another engaging idea is to play a role-switching game, where kids imagine themselves in someone else’s shoes.
The activities on these worksheets can be enhanced with our Being Tolerant and Accepting Differences handout.
