Empathy means understanding how someone else feels by imagining being in their situation. Clients who are empathetic are good at listening to others and showing they care when someone is having a hard time. They can also better understand and respond to the emotions of others.
The All About Empathy handout helps clients learn to be kinder, and connect more deeply with themselves and those around them. It emphasizes the importance of empathy and provides advice on how to show empathy when someone shares their feelings. The handout offers tips on noticing and understanding others' emotions and gives examples of how to communicate empathetically in various situations.
Learning about empathy helps kids and teens become more aware of their own emotions and how they might affect others.
This handout can be paired with our Empathy Worksheets for exercises to help enhance understanding of this topic.
